Testing the efficacy of existing USDA Rhizobium germplasm collection accessions as inoculants for guar

چکیده
Legume inoculants are products that introduce legume-specific rhizobia bacteria to the soil and promote process of biological nitrogen fixation. Guar (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba L. Taub.), also known as clusterbean, is a legume produced in semi-arid regions around world, primarily for industrial uses guar gum, but there only one commercial inoculant crop, which not available worldwide. The USDA-ARS National Rhizobium Germplasm Collection has four strains listed compatible with guar: USDA 3089, 3385, 3386, 3595. objective this research was test efficacy peat-based, seed-applied derived from these strains, well mixture all compared un-inoculated plants controlled greenhouse conditions. Among tested 3089 3386 had greatest positive impacts, they increased nodule weight, total assimilated nitrogen, biomass production, protein production per plant relative control. 3385 Mix likewise weight. No affected other measured aboveground morphological productivity parameters or number. These particularly were identified beneficial recommended further testing field development an effective guar.

Prospects of Genomic Prediction in the USDA Soybean Germplasm Collection: Historical Data Creates Robust Models for Enhancing Selection of Accessions
The identification and mobilization of useful genetic variation from germplasm banks for use in breeding programs is critical for future genetic gain and protection against crop pests. Plummeting costs of next-generation sequencing and genotyping is revolutionizing the way in which researchers and breeders interface with plant germplasm collections. An example of this is the high density genoty...
متن کاملGermplasm Accessions Resistant to Straighthead in the USDA Rice Core Collection1
The USDA rice core collection, containing 1,801 accessions from 115 countries or sources and representing about 10% of the whole collection, was established by a stratified random-sampling method. A total of 990 accessions in the core collection that headed in 110 days or less and were 150 cm or less in height were evaluated for straighthead resistance on a 1 to 9 scale with 1 being very resist...

Characterization of Insect Resistance Loci in the USDA Soybean Germplasm Collection Using Genome-Wide Association Studies
Management of insects that cause economic damage to yields of soybean mainly rely on insecticide applications. Sources of resistance in soybean plant introductions (PIs) to different insect pests have been reported, and some of these sources, like for the soybean aphid (SBA), have been used to develop resistant soybean cultivars. With the availability of SoySNP50K and the statistical power of g...
